Job Description
We build. We create impact.
We are seeking an
Embedded Software Engineer (Linux focused)
to design, develop, and maintain firmware for IoT devices. This role will be responsible for developing embedded firmware at both the application and driver level, configuring and managing embedded Linux systems (including filesystems, kernel, networking, logs, and security), and collaborating closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless hardware‑software integration. The engineer will also implement communication protocols to enable efficient device and peripheral connectivity, create clear documentation to support development and maintenance, and perform testing and validation to ensure reliability, security, and performance of the firmware.
What You Will Be Doing
Design and develop embedded firmware for IoT devices, including writing, testing, and debugging code at both the application and driver level.
Configure and manage embedded Linux systems (filesystems, kernel, network, logs, security).
Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure proper integration of firmware with IoT device hardware.
Implement communication protocols to allow IoT devices to connect and communicate efficiently with onboard peripherals and over networks.
Create comprehensive documentation related to firmware design and maintenance.
Conduct preliminary testing to validate the functionality and reliability of the firmware.
Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
Experience with SoC and microcontroller programming/architectures (both RTOS and bare metal environments). Primarily ARM Cortex‑M vs ARM Cortex‑A processor families and associated SoCs built around these architectures.
Abilities
Ability to debug and triage issues with board‑level communication protocols (I2C, SMBUS, SPI/QSPI/OSPI, USB, UART).
Skills
Proficiency in C/C++ programming and Linux bash shell scripting. Python and C# experience is a plus.
Linux kernel configuration and cross‑compilation using frameworks such as mmdebstrap, Yocto, Buildroot.
Linux device‑tree overlay customization and configuration.
Linux network configuration in a headless environment.
Linux kernel patching and patch management.
Debian package development and custom repository configuration and administration.
U‑Boot configuration.
