Mechanical Assembly Technician (Evening Shift)
Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, design and manufacturing of spacecraft, satellites and payloads, enabling scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate action, national security and new technology demonstrations.
Our Electron rocket is the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket, and we are developing Neutron, an upcoming medium‑lift reusable launch vehicle. The Space Systems business designs and builds satellites, payloads and components, including those for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and the James Webb Space Telescope.
WHAT YOU'LL DO The Mechanical Production team works closely with test engineers and design engineers to achieve the highest product quality and safety standards for Rocket Lab launch vehicles. Mechanical assembly technicians receive components from the supply chain and complete the assembly and testing of those components before passing them on to the Integration team. As a Technician you will be hands‑on, working with tools, equipment and facilities to build, launch or test Rocket Lab launch vehicles or components. Your responsibilities contribute to the overall production and launch schedule. This role is 4 days per week on the evening shift (15:00 - 01:30).
QUALIFICATIONS
Trade‑qualified in relevant industry or must be able to demonstrate 4+ years of relevant industry experience
Precision mechanical assembly
Operation of mechanical, electrical, and automated test equipment
Comfortable working to exacting standards, including cleanliness for oxygen service
Understanding of standard industry ESD
Good eyesight and able to inspect assemblies to a high workmanship standard
Ability to manufacture components to a high workmanship standard, including riveting and precision assembly
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously
Able to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawings
High work ethic and willingness to work long hours if required
Initiative and calm under pressure
Computer literate and comfortable using smartphones and tablets
