Job Overview We are seeking an Experienced Associate Director of Construction Estimating with deep expertise in electric transmission and distribution. The role is primarily remote with occasional client‑site travel. You will lead estimate development, client interactions and value‑engineering for large‑scale transmission projects.
Responsibilities
Develop cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design.
Support client land acquisitions.
Deliver and present updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.
Review proposed design changes and new technologies and prepare estimates with appropriate accuracy.
Understand design stages and estimate levels.
Provide commercial input to design optioneering and value‑engineering exercises.
Prepare cash commitment forecasts for the construction life cycle.
Collaborate with stakeholders in the preparation of estimates and cost plans.
Analyze labor markets and cost drivers such as unions and tax.
Support clients with monthly presentations.
Deliver life‑cycle costing models.
Benchmark integration to ensure accurate data capture.
Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the power and electric transmission industries; US utilities construction estimating experience is required.
Experience in a construction cost‑management role such as Estimating, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Cost Controls.
Thrives in a client‑facing role.
Experience supporting program‑level cost management for medium or large‑scale construction projects.
Strong knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including value management and value engineering.
Excellent communication skills.
