Total Veterinary Care Hospital (TVC) of Cicero, NY is seeking an
Associate Veterinarian
to join our collaborative team of three experienced professionals in a thriving general practice. With strong mentorship and support, you will refine your skills in a busy practice focused on gold‑standard medicine, ensuring growth as a confident and capable veterinarian.

Ideal Candidate Must Have the Following Qualifications and Skills
DVM or equivalent from an accredited college or university
Willingness to develop minor surgery skills at a minimum
New York DVM license in good standing (or eligibility for licensure)
Positive attitude and passion for the profession
Excellent communication and client education skills

Practicing the gold standard of veterinary medicine

Responsibilities
Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of TVC.
Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients.
Maintain excellent client communication.
Record all pertinent medical, client, and case‑related information accurately in the patient record.
Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
Call clients for follow‑up and to discuss results.
Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas.
Maintain practice growth and review financial reports.
Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions.
Work in collaboration with the practice manager for administrative management.
Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development toward goals.
Provide guidance to support staff to ensure smooth shift transitions.
Provide input to the hospital manager for employee performance evaluations.
Lead and establish a vision for the practice team.
Perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
Be proficient in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
Demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations and in a fast‑paced environment.
Administer SQ, IM, and IV injections.
Explain dosage and side‑effects of prescription drugs to clients.
Monitor anesthesia and recovery states, alerting veterinarians of changes or concerns.
Properly extubate and monitor temperature and recovery from anesthesia.
Use practice management software proficiently.
Required Education and Experience
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university prior to the position start date.
Licensure in good standing to practice in the State of New York.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, and to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds (with a coworker).
Endurance for extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking on hard surfaces.
Ability to work in noisy conditions with moderately high animal and equipment sounds.
Regular exposure to pets that may bite or scratch and occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications.
Good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand‑fingers dexterity, and visual acuity for using keyboards and equipment.
