Location:
This is an on‑site role based in New York City public schools. Candidates must currently reside in New York City or be able to reliably commute to schools for in‑person coaching days.
Travel:
Local travel within New York City is required. Educational Consultants will spend up to 7–8 hours per day onsite at assigned schools.
The Opportunity
At School Solutions, a division of K12 Coalition, Educational Consultants play a critical role in directly supporting partner schools nationwide to achieve world‑class instruction through effective professional development and instructional coaching.
We are seeking 1–2 Educational Consultants to support schools in the New York City area in delivering high‑impact coaching and instructional support. This role includes approximately
80–130 coaching days , focused on improving elementary English Language Arts (ELA) instruction and strengthening support for students with diverse learning needs.
This is a meaningful opportunity to partner directly with educators and school leaders to model effective instruction, implement High‑Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), and build systems aligned to Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks. Educational Consultants will work onsite in schools, providing daily, embedded coaching rooted in best practices for literacy and inclusive education.
What You’ll Do
Coach and support teachers in implementing research‑based ELA interventions and HQIM (e.g., Houghton Mifflin Harcourt programs).
Model the intellectual preparation process for supporting students who require multi‑tiered systems of support and build the skill and capacity of leaders and teachers to plan confidently and independently.
Monitor partner progress through on‑site, school‑based coaching, ongoing data analysis, and check‑ins with key stakeholders.
Attend training (optional but preferred): participate in in‑person training from July 21 to 24 and ongoing training throughout the year.
Other Duties
Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.
Qualifications
Currently based in New York City or able to reliably commute to New York City public schools for in‑person coaching.
Availability to work onsite 7–8 hours per day on a piece‑rate, daily basis, with scheduling flexibility, August–June.
Background in Elementary Education, ideally with experience using HMH curriculum.
Expertise in Special Education practices and approaches.
Strong understanding of and experience supporting Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Proven track record of instructional coaching, lesson modeling, and data‑driven educator support.
Adherence to the Common Core State Standards is preferred.
Strong writing and communication skills, including experience leading virtual and in‑person professional learning.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple demands while working across several partner schools.

Compensation Range The hourly rate is estimated to be $100 per hour for billable work. As part of our commitment to pay equity, new hires are typically brought into the organization at a pay range between the minimum and the midpoint depending on qualifications, location, and the budgeted amount for the role.
Our Selection Process Our selection process typically includes an online application, short phone interview, hiring manager interview, candidate exercise, and final interview. All School Solutions Educational Consultants must pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
