Takeda Pharmaceutical has partnered with iHire to fill a Research Scientist position at its Takeda Development Center Americas, Inc. in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on oncology immunotherapy research, specifically leveraging Vd1 T‑cells as a cancer treatment.

Position Research Scientist (Full‑time)

Location Cambridge, MA (up to 20% remote work allowed)

Responsibilities

Design, develop and execute well‑defined mechanistic experiments and projects within oncology immunotherapy research focusing on Vd1 T‑cells.

Lead from the lab to advance novel and differentiated products toward clinical milestones.

Design, execute, and interpret functional in vitro and ex vivo assays to understand therapeutic MoA and inform scientific decisions.

Propose novel projects based on internal results, external partners, and published reports.

Isolate Vd1 T‑cells from blood, tutor operators in large‑scale isolation procedures, and conduct immune cell characterization (flow cytometry, cytokine measurement, cytotoxicity assays).

Evaluate novel engagers for Vd1 T‑cells in in‑vitro and ex‑vivo model systems.

Develop new assays to assess Vd1 T‑cell functionality and biology to improve tumor control.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, meet deadlines, and generate essential data for program execution.

Contribute to regulatory filings and prepare technical reports, presentations, and posters.

Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with Takeda policies.

Qualifications

PhD in Biology, Cancer Studies, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Proven experience isolating, culturing, and expanding Vd1 gamma‑delta T‑cells.

Design and execution of in vitro/ex vivo assays of Vd1 cell function (cytotoxicity, survival, proliferation).

Ability to analyze experimental data and determine relevance based on Vd1 biology.

Experience evaluating novel immunotherapy products based on Vd1 gamma‑delta cell biology.

Experience with gene engineering of Vd1 cells.

Compensation Full‑time. Annual salary range: $111,800.00 – $191,600.00 plus competitive benefits.
