Private Companies Attorney: 4th-6th year

— Cooley LLP. Cooley is seeking 4th–6th year associates to join its elite private companies team, advising disruptive companies and the investors who fund them. Associates with at least four years of substantial experience working with early-stage and growth-stage companies are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have deep experience counseling venture-backed companies on general corporate matters throughout their growth cycle, including venture capital financings and liquidity events. This is an opportunity to join a growing national team that advises some of the most prominent high-growth companies and their investors. In parallel with client work, associates will have the opportunity to build and run a practice, participate in speaking engagements, and contribute to the development of Cooley’s national private companies platform. Candidates should have experience in the corporate department of a national or international law firm and demonstrate a strong academic record from a nationally recognized law school. EOE.

Responsibilities

Provide general corporate counsel to venture-backed early-stage and growth-stage companies.

Advise on venture capital financings and liquidity events.

Collaborate with investors and cross-functional teams to support growth and strategic transactions.

Build and run a practice within Cooley’s national private companies platform.

Participate in speaking engagements and contribute to the development of firm-wide resources and platforms.

Qualifications

4th–6th year associate with substantial experience working with early-stage and growth-stage companies.

Deep experience counseling venture-backed companies on general corporate matters throughout growth cycles.

Experience with venture capital financings and liquidity events.

Experience in the corporate department of a national or international law firm.

Strong academic record from a nationally recognized law school.

Compensation & Benefits The expected annual pay range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
