Senior Digital Director

who can both lead and do — managing a small team of digital specialists while personally owning execution for a few key client accounts.

role — ideal for someone who loves rolling up their sleeves to build and optimize campaigns while mentoring others to do their best work.

Job Overview The

Senior Digital Director

will lead the digital execution team across paid media, lead generation, email marketing, e‑comm and web performance, while directly managing strategic execution for select client accounts. This person will drive high‑quality, full‑funnel digital programs that deliver measurable ROI and maintain excellence in client communication, technology enablement, and campaign performance.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary digital lead for a few large client accounts, managing campaign execution across paid search, paid social, programmatic, email, and retargeting.

Build, launch, and optimize digital campaigns, ensuring accuracy in tracking, budget pacing, and creative delivery.

Manage lead generation funnels, nurture flows, and conversion tracking to ensure efficient performance across platforms.

Partner closely with Account Managers to translate client goals into tactical digital marketing plans and deliver clear reporting on results.

Lead a team of digital specialists, web developer, and martech coordinators, providing daily guidance, support, and prioritization.

Act as a mentor and coach — helping team members build technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Review and QA campaigns before launch, ensuring best practices and flawless execution.

Foster collaboration, accountability, and professional growth across the digital department.

Oversee cross-client paid media programs across Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platforms.

Manage audience targeting, ad placements, creative testing, and bid strategies to optimize performance.

Monitor campaign data daily to identify optimization opportunities and troubleshoot performance issues.

Ensure all campaigns meet KPIs for CPL, ROAS, CTR, and conversion volume.

Maintain and improve Wheelhouse’s marketing technology stack — including automation tools, analytics platforms, reporting and tracking systems.

Work with the web development team to ensure tracking integrity (GA4, pixels, UTM, tag management).

Implement scalable systems and repeatable processes to increase team efficiency and campaign accuracy.

Implement AI‑driven tools to enhance ad targeting, personalization, and reporting automation.

Oversee full‑funnel digital programs designed to attract, capture, and convert qualified leads.

Develop and refine nurture workflows in marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Pardot, Marketo, etc.).

Collaborate with creative and content teams to develop messaging that drives engagement and conversion.

Track and analyze funnel performance, identifying gaps and implementing improvements.

Build and maintain detailed reporting dashboards that visualize campaign performance and key business metrics.

Deliver actionable insights to clients and internal stakeholders, highlighting opportunities for growth and efficiency.

Ensure all campaigns are measurable, transparent, and tied to revenue-based outcomes.

Experience and Skills Required

15+ years of digital marketing experience, including at least 5 years in an agency environment.

Proven success managing multi‑channel digital campaigns across multiple clients and industries.

Experience leading teams while remaining actively involved in campaign execution.

Strong background in paid media, lead generation, and marketing automation.

Demonstrated ability to manage both people and projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.

Expertise in Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and GA4.

Hands‑on proficiency with CRM and automation tools (HubSpot, Pardot, Marketo, or similar).

Advanced understanding of campaign tracking, UTM structures, conversion events, and data attribution.

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret performance data to inform actionable insights.

Experience managing budgets, pacing, and forecasting digital spend across accounts.

A balance of leadership and hands‑on execution — you can build strategy, coach others, and do the work.

Detail‑oriented, data‑driven, and process‑minded.
