Overview

The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for providing leadership and management to the skilled nursing operations. Responsible for planning, organizing and leading overall operations of nursing services in accordance with federal, state and local standards and Sunrise Senior Living policies to promote the highest degree of quality care and services to our guests/residents. Responsibilities

Directs, supervises the management of the team members in the skilled nursing center. Implements and monitors systems that ensure consistent delivery of quality guest/resident services. Implements staffing and scheduling patterns to maintain continuity of guest/resident care and regulatory compliance. Assesses and monitors clinical setting for effective and safe guest/resident centered care. Facilitates effective communication between cross functional teams and promotes a team approach in the delivery of guest/resident care. Maintains communication with guest/resident’s physician, family and/or responsible party to ensure the guest’s/resident’s needs are being met. Identifies ongoing needs of guests/residents to maintain the highest quality standards for wellbeing. Ensures proper utilization of the Resident Care Plan by all team members and proper follow through and documentation of guest/resident care. Facilitates relationships with Hospice, Therapy and other providers; participates in community awareness activities and relationship development. Assists in counseling guest/resident, family or responsible party during difficult transitional care periods. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

Strives for excellent quality care and service delivery as measured in quality metrics and follows up on corrective actions in a timely manner. Researches, documents and reviews incidents; develops and implements plan of correction as appropriate. Ensures Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings are occurring and may be designated as Chairperson. Analyzes standards of care and support services to maintain quality resident care and clinical practice. Reviews and implements plans of correction with interdisciplinary teams to enhance care. Monitors medication and treatment profiles to ensure orders are followed and documented accurately; reviews physician orders at move in and monthly thereafter. Acts as liaison with pharmacy to ensure effective services and regulatory compliance. Ensures compliance with state regulations for labeling, distribution and identification of medications. Maintains knowledge of current federal and state regulations, policies and procedures for resident care and services. Completes and submits monthly and quarterly reports in a timely manner; supports mock survey processes. Financial Management

Assists in presenting Sunrise’s products and services to residents, families and referral sources. Assists the executive director in completing the annual community budget and manages department budget (labor and other expenses). Reviews monthly financial statements and implements action plans around deficiencies. Coordinates with the community team to achieve operational efficiency and cross-training opportunities. Training, Leadership & Team Development

Manages the department including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and disciplining. Supports Sunrise University training and self-study programs; ensures regulatory compliance through supervision and coaching. Achieves Team Member Engagement goals and leads in engagement planning. Oversees staffing and scheduling; reviews timekeeping and payroll for accuracy. Conducts timely performance appraisals and holds team members accountable with documentation. Participates in regular meetings and stays current with professional development and required training. Performs other duties as assigned and ensures Sunrise standards are met. Core Competencies

Graduate of approved college/school of nursing. Current state license as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a nurse management position within a skilled nursing environment, including hiring, coaching, performance management and daily operations supervision. Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices in skilled nursing care. Knowledge of federal and state long term care regulations; proficiency with Medicare, MDS/RAI, and Care Plan process. Ability to handle multiple priorities; strong delegation skills; effective written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills. Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office and Sunrise applications) and ability to learn new applications. Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours as required. About Sunrise
