Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Staff Agile Product Owner – BM/SRM Product Owner (25-514) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. This role, based in Huntsville, AL, is essential in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on‑site work with no remote options.
Position Overview The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission goals. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key element of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system’s current and future capabilities.
Essential Functions
Responsible for delivering value for the BM/SRM applications within a complex missile defense command and control system.
Will Carry Out the Following Tasks
Identify stakeholder needs to ensure consistent delivery of value to the customer.
Coordinate and prioritize needs across various Task Orders.
Contribute to the overall C2BMC Program Roadmap while breaking down the team’s work into achievable timelines.
Assess progress and report the status to leadership.
Support the achievement of Earned Value Management by working closely with the CAMs, providing essential information to assess EV performance and assist with variances and ETCs.
Serve as the technical point of contact with the government, internal clients, ART leadership, and solution leadership.
Manage stakeholder expectations.
Collaborate with other product teams, solution leadership, and ARTs to plan and execute C2BMC releases.
Coordinate with leadership and other technical teams to identify priorities and communicate them to the product team.
Assist with preparing and delivering briefings and demonstrations to customers.
Prepare engineering estimates and basis of estimates for task instructions and RFPs.
Experience in leading and managing cross‑functional teams during the development and integration of large, complex software applications.
Demonstrated experience managing stakeholders in an extensive, complex development program.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 12 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 8 years of relevant work experience.
Applicants must have a current, active DoD‑issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
Must have proven experience as a Product Owner, Scrum Master, or in another technical leadership role within an Agile environment.
Proven leadership in managing the full life cycle of large, integrated DoD systems, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
Extensive experience in recognizing customer needs and prioritizing their requirements.
Knowledge of common software development and management tools such as Maven, git/GitLab, Nexus, Eclipse.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong working knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense concepts, Battle Management, and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communications systems, and the U.S. Missile Defense System is highly desirable.
Experience with DoD integration processes, Agile and DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies, and automated testing tools.
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience preferred.
Development of command and control system applications.
Experience in Software Integration and Formal Testing.
Flexibility and willingness to accept unexpected tasks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the poise and adaptability needed to succeed in a highly dynamic environment.
Desired Technical Skills Include
Experience and knowledge of Earned Value Management within a software development setting.
Knowledge and experience implementing Cyber Security / RMF requirements.
Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts like Use Cases and SysML diagrams.
Proven leadership experience in full life cycle development of large, integrated DoD systems, including requirements development and interpretation, design, implementation, testing, fielding, and sustainment.
Proven experience in identifying customer needs and handling customer priorities.

Primary Level Salary Range: $163,200.00 – $244,800.00. The above range is a general guideline and may vary based on experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Payroll benefits and additional compensation details are available upon request.
