We are seeking a Digital Lead to own the strategy, delivery, and adoption of digital capabilities for our E&S Binding organization—spanning broker portals, APIs, rules & rating, and advancing our digital underwriting proficiencies . This role sits at the intersection of underwriting, distribution, product, tech, and operations to accelerate profitable growth via digital channels with our wholesale/binding partners and retail producers. You will define the roadmap, deliver outcomes, and drive change management—from appetite and submissions to quote/bind/issue, endorsements, and renewal s.

Responsibilities

Accountability for executing E&S Binding’s digital strategy, including providing business direction on API advancement and third-party integration needs, contract management, and vendor and partner management.

Support translation of underwriting guidelines to system rules.

Deliver strategic initiatives through strong execution and project management skills and the ability to lead a complex organization through a transformation by collaborating with agile teams.

Serve as partner manager lead with digital partners (brokers and vendors), from vetting and implementation to ongoing management of partner integrations.

Track digital market trends and engage with business stakeholders in trends, insights, and design thinking sessions.

Coordinate with agile teams to prototype, experiment, and test new technologies, capabilities, processes, or services.

Apply a continuous improvement mindset to all initiatives, deploying test/learns, rapid tuning and using learnings to refine the E&S Binding strategy.

Build and monitor reporting dashboards to find relevant trends and opportunities. Provide regular reporting /updates to management. Recommend changes to strategy and roadmap based on findings.

Qualifications

7–10+ years in P&C insurance with experience in broker/agent management, API integration, project management, and contract management.

Preferred: E&S/Binding/MGA exposure (wholesale distribution, delegated authority, bordereaux, and/or surplus lines practices).

Familiarity with digital products/platforms (portal, API, or workflow)—preferably in commercial or specialty insurance.

Strong understanding of submission/quote/bind/issue flows, rating & rules, underwriting referrals, and policy life cycle.

Comfortable with technical concepts: APIs, data models, rate/rule engines, and integration patterns.

Proven Leadership in Digital Transformation : Demonstrated ability to lead digital transformation initiatives, driving change management and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Advanced Analytical Skills : Expertise in building and monitoring reporting dashboards to identify trends and opportunities, providing actionable insights to refine strategies and roadmaps.

Strong Communication and Collaboration : Excellent communication skills to engage with business stakeholders, digital partners, and agile teams, ensuring alignment and successful implementation of digital initiatives.

Technical Proficiency : In-depth understanding of technical concepts such as APIs, data models, rate/rule engines, and integration patterns, with the ability to translate these concepts into actionable business strategies.

Deliver Outcomes : Demonstrated track record of delivering strategic initiatives through strong execution and project management skills, ensuring that digital capabilities are effectively integrated and adopted.

Drive Change : Proven ability to lead a complex organization through transformation, collaborating with agile teams to prototype, experiment, and test new technologies, capabilities, processes, or services.

Build Strong Partnerships : Experience in managing digital partners (brokers and vendors) from vetting and implementation to ongoing management, fostering strong relationships, and ensuring successful integrations.

Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$108,240 - $195,600

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
