Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics System sector is currently hiring a Special Process Supplier Quality Engineer. This is a remote opportunity; however, the candidate must be in the Central or Eastern United States within 45 minutes of a major airport. The position requires extensive travel and the ability to fly commercially on very short notice to meet company commitments.
Overview This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates that have a background in Nondestructive Testing as a NAS410 certified Level 3 in at least three areas and working knowledge in one or more of the following Aerospace processes: Heat Treatment, Chemical Processes/Finishes, Advanced Composites, Welding, or Material Test.
Essential Functions
Conduct Special Process audits at supplier facilities to verify conformance to Northrop Grumman Engineering and Quality standards.
Review and approve supplier Nondestructive Test procedures and techniques.
Capable of understanding and interpreting specifications, standards, and contracts.
Ensure effective supplier root cause and corrective action.
Collaborate with program management, engineering, supply chain management, and supplier management teams.
Travel as needed to support program initiatives.
This is a remote opportunity; however, the position requires travel and the ability to fly commercially on very short notice to meet company commitments.
Basic Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 8 years of quality/manufacturing experience OR a Master's degree AND 6 years of quality/manufacturing experience OR a PhD and 4 years of quality/manufacturing experience.
NAS410 certified Nondestructive Test (NDT) Level 3 in a minimum of three methods including ultrasonic testing of advanced composites.
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access.
Must have a Valid State Driver’s License to operate a personal motor vehicle and have a dependable motor vehicle to travel to local suppliers.
Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
Proficient in MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
Hands on experience and knowledge of critical manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, heat treatment, chemical processes, nondestructive inspection, material test, surface enhancement, welding, and/or composites fabrication.
Certified AS9100 Quality System Auditor.
ASQ Certified Quality Auditor.
Active DoD Secret Clearance (granted or renewed within the past 5 years).
Experience participating in the Nadcap accreditation program.
Salary & Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
