What we’re looking for: RSE is seeking a Project Engineer with a keen interest in project delivery and management to join our permanent team in Portsmouth. You will be responsible for the delivery of projects and manage the performance of projects end-to-end for the Southern Water framework.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the project liaison from enquiry stage to final acceptance and documentation, meeting with clients to discuss requirements and conduct site surveys.

Direct, control, and allocate work to trade operatives and apprentices, focusing on quality, productivity and safety.

Ensure all technical information is available for design and/or construction delivery.

Interpret and check drawings, specifications and schedules; prepare final documentation (As‑Built drawings, etc.).

Identify and resolve non‑conformance early in both design and construction phases.

Manage the design of systems and products, ensuring alignment with design specifications and technical aspects.

Prepare contract documents and manage project quality deliverables, ensuring compliance with internal and client quality systems.

Input to tender, design and construction programmes including progress updates and reporting.

Subcontractor liaison and management, including tender specification, quotation and H&S documentation review.

Prepare construction phase health and safety plans for projects under CDM with principal contractor responsibility.

Qualifications

Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

Water industry experience.

Proven track record in project management with an engineering or supervisory background.

Strong time‑management skills and ability to multitask in a busy environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to interpret and explain technical instructions.

Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to engineering trades, particularly mechanical and electrical.

Ability to work independently and within teams under direction.

Innovative thinking with a willingness to learn and apply new technologies.

Capacity to prioritise and execute tasks under high‑pressure conditions.

Full UK driving licence.
