About the Role We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on
Quality Control Manager
to elevate and standardize quality operations across our artisan baked goods manufacturing facilities in
Wheeling
and
Bensenville, IL . This role is focused on
training and developing QC leads and technicians ,
modernizing quality systems , and driving a culture of consistency and continuous improvement across both sites.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who can design, implement, and sustain best‑in‑class QC programs while ensuring full compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Train, mentor, and develop QC leads and technicians
to build strong, capable, and consistent teams across both facilities.
Standardize QC procedures, documentation, and testing methods
to ensure uniform quality practices company‑wide.
Modernize and streamline quality systems, introducing new tools, metrics, and data‑driven processes for improved efficiency and accuracy.
Oversee QC testing, sanitation, and water treatment to maintain compliance with
HACCP, SQF, FDA, and GFSI
standards.
Lead internal and external audits (FDA, USDA, Military, Costco, Walmart) and ensure full regulatory readiness.
Implement robust
training programs and SOPs
for new and existing staff to reinforce consistency in product quality and safety.
Partner closely with production and sanitation teams to identify process improvements and reduce non‑conformances.
Manage allergen control, labeling, recalls, and traceability programs with precision and accountability.
Promote a proactive
food safety and quality culture
across all levels of the organization.
Must‑Have Qualifications
5–10+ years of experience in
food manufacturing QC , ideally in bakery or artisan production environments.
3+ years of
leadership experience
training and managing QC teams, leads, or technicians.
Proven success in
standardizing and improving quality systems
across multiple facilities.
Strong working knowledge of
HACCP, SQF, FDA, and GFSI
programs.
Experience leading
third‑party and customer audits
(FDA, USDA, Military, Costco, Walmart preferred).
Analytical and organized, with strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, ERP/LIMS familiarity).
Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
Hands‑on experience with
allergen control, labeling, traceability, and lab testing
(micro, chemical, sensory).
Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement certification.
Experience leading
multi‑site quality teams
or system integration projects.
Background in artisan or small‑batch food production.
