About The Role The Senior Accountant, External Reporting and Technical Accounting will play a key role in the preparation and analysis of financial reporting, both for internal and external purposes, including the preparation of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and other SEC reporting. This position will also be a key contributor in researching, interpreting, and implementing technical accounting and financial reporting guidance.
What You’ll Do
Develop a detailed understanding of the company’s products, services, markets, and internal organization to understand financial results.
Assist with the company’s financial accounting and reporting functions, including quarterly and annual reporting (10-Qs, 10-Ks, and other SEC reporting).
Assist in month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end financial consolidation processes, identifying and implementing areas for improvement and efficiency.
Record journal entries and prepare reconciliations over complex accounting areas such as share‑based compensation and debt.
Research new accounting and financial reporting rules and regulations, working closely with accounting and finance teams to understand impacts on financial results.
Perform research on technical accounting matters and document related memos.
Maintain updated documented process narratives, accounting policies, and procedures for areas of responsibility.
Assist in the implementation of new financial accounting and reporting standards, including development of related disclosures and implementation controls.
Work directly with external subject matter experts around highly technical accounting areas, as needed.
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of public accounting or corporate accounting experience with a focus on financial reporting.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and ability to analyze accounting guidance and its impacts on financial reporting and disclosures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in writing technical accounting memos and procedures.
Ability to interact with cross‑functional stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe applications, and other platforms; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
Location Hybrid (3 days onsite at the Merchandise Mart, Chicago IL)
Pay Range $95,000 - 105,000
