TAMPA BAY WATCH Established in 1993, Tampa Bay Watch is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the recovery and protection of the Tampa Bay estuary through scientific and educational programs. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the CEO, the Development Director is responsible for creating the annual development plan and successful execution of fundraising initiatives at Tampa Bay Watch. This position will focus on fundraising capacity, including donor cultivation and annual and planned-giving. This includes solicitation, cultivation and nurturing financial support for departments with the primary focus on annual giving, major and planned gifts. They will manage and supervise a team of development professionals and serve as a forward-facing member of the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Develop an annual development plan that aligns with the strategic plan, realistic financial goals that reflect the active donor base.

Implement, coordinate, and manage an annual giving program to ensure resources for the organization's ongoing programs and services.

Implement, coordinate, and manage a major gift program to move income gifts to gifts of assets for the organization's special program projects and annual capital.

Works with the CEO to organize and manage the organization's planned giving program to increase the organization's assets. This includes cultivating prospects for charitable gift annuities and bequests, managing the activities of the planned giving committee and assisting with recruitment efforts.

Provide support, documentation and follow-up for legacy gifts made to the organization.

Manage and coordinate the efforts of the development team to ensure retention and revenue generation.

Maintain consistent personal contact with current donors, prospects, committee members and the Board of Directors.

Create and maintain an annual donor cultivation and stewardship plan for the organization.

Work with the Annual Giving Manager to increase donor engagement through cultivation activities.

Work with the Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee on conducting an annual board giving campaign, provide ongoing fundraising training and mission stories to assist in their fundraising efforts.

Identify and recruit high profile and influential community leaders(s) “champion” with regional and statewide appeal.

Identify speaking opportunities for champions and transition to Marketing and Communications Manager to train.

Performing other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Desirable Attributes

Quantifiable fundraising experience working in environmental or conservation nonprofits is a plus.

Must be able to foster an environment of teamwork within the development department and possess leadership qualities as part of the organization's management team.

Provide organizational tours, as necessary.

Maintain current gift acceptance policies and procedures.

Create and present monthly reports to the CEO and Development Chair as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, sales, communications, public relations, business, or other related areas.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum five years’ experience in development and fundraising, CFRE desired.

Experience in developing and implementing an annual fund campaign, planned giving and major gifts programs.

Experience in managing and supervising direct reports and/or support staff.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The starting salary range is $90,000 - $110,000 and shall be commensurate with experience. An annual incentive bonus plan based on fundraising metrics.
