Base pay range $115,000.00/yr - $143,000.00/yr

Position Summary Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance oversees all aspects of financial management, with a focus on contributed revenue—including grants, donations, and sponsorships. This role ensures financial transparency and stewardship to build donor confidence and long-term sustainability. Key responsibilities include implementing financial policies, managing budgets and projections in collaboration with internal and external partners, supervising two accountants, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and funder requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable, including bill entry via Bill.com, donation and grant recording in QBO, and reconciliation with MyClubHub.

Collaborate with Development to reconcile fundraising revenue and ensure accurate donor reporting.

Perform monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (cash, receivables, credit cards, fixed assets, prepaid expenses).

Complete month-end and quarter-end close processes in a timely manner to ensure delivery of financial reporting to Finance Committee.

Prepare financial reports for the Finance Committee and Board, including multi-year projections, scenario modeling, and sustainability analysis.

Lead annual audits (financial statement, single audit) and IRS Form 990 preparation in coordination with external auditors and the Finance Committee.

Oversee financial technology systems: migration, integration, upgrades, and dashboard development.

Manage treasury functions: weekly cash flow reporting, banking relationships, investments, and liquidity planning in partnership with outsourced CFO.

Monitor contributed revenue streams (major gifts, events, campaigns) and support donor stewardship with impact reporting.

Develop financial training materials, presentations, and tools to support resource development.

Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.

Grant Reporting & Compliance

Ensure financial compliance with both government and private funder requirements, including allowable expenses, donor restrictions, and reporting timelines.

Create grant budgets, monitor project expenses, and submit needed budget realignments.

Prepare and submit required financial reporting and drawdown requests in a timely manner.

Review and record staff time allocations to grants.

Collaborate closely with the Development team to align grant budgets with proposals and reporting.

Conduct subrecipient financial monitoring (where applicable).

Process Documentation & Improvement

Document/maintain current policies & procedures related to finance and accounting processes.

Partner with Development and Communications teams to ensure financial systems and reporting align with fundraising campaigns, donor expectations, and impact storytelling.

Identify and implement improvements to streamline existing policies & procedures.

Create new policies & procedures as needed.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; CPA license is desirable.

10+ years of experience in non-profit finance managing contributed revenue, including individual donations, foundation grants, and corporate sponsorships.

Prior experience with federal government required single audit.

Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation.

Computer skills including QuickBooks Online or similar, Microsoft 365, Bill.com, Divvy, Paycor or similar payroll and HRIS platform.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
