Nesco Data Center and Infrastructure is seeking a Network & Access Point Specialist in the Greater Washington DC/NVA Area.
Scope and Notes:
Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, technically skilled
Smart Hands Technician
to provide on-site support for a managed services contract in
Washington, DC . The role requires recurring biweekly ticket and escalation dispatch. The technician will work under the remote direction of senior engineers and will be responsible for basic network infrastructure tasks and hardware support.
Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site technical support in coordination with remote engineers.
Assist with
network equipment troubleshooting
and
configuration validation .
Identify and work with hardware such as
firewalls, switches, access points , and
optical LAN components .
Interpret LED status indicators on network devices and escalate as needed.
Handle
low-voltage cabling
tasks in MDF/IDF environments (patching, labeling, connectivity).
Provide basic
WiFi support , including
access point troubleshooting and replacement .
Support environments with
300 access points , ensuring connectivity and uptime.
Document actions taken, including equipment inventory, configuration changes, and cabling work.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1–3 years of IT field support or hands-on technical experience .
Ability to follow remote instructions and troubleshoot physical infrastructure.
Familiarity with:
Network hardware
(firewalls, switches, wireless client)
Juniper WiFi environments
(preferred)
Optical LAN (OLAN) systems
Low-voltage cabling
in structured wiring closets
Strong understanding of network device indicators (LED color/status interpretation).
Reliable transportation to and from the Washington, DC site.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism during customer interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting large-scale wireless deployments (e.g., 300 client).
Juniper or other enterprise WiFi platform expertise.
Optical LAN certification or experience with fiber-based enterprise networking.
