Firefly Children & Family Alliance is looking for a full‑time
Director of Foundation Relations . This role oversees the preparation of all grant proposals that support the agency’s strategic plan. The position also provides supervision and leadership for the Grants Coordinator and the post‑award management process. Candidates must have excellent organizational and written communication skills, a solid understanding of fundraising principles, and the ability to multitask.
You Will
Manage (25%) – Provide ongoing supervision for the Grants Coordinator; hire, develop, hold accountable, and, if necessary, terminate Program staff; mentor staff through training, inspiration, and encouragement; ensure staff meet service standards and follow fundraising ethical guidelines.
Prospect Research (20%) – Research and initiate relationships with new prospective funders; write letters of inquiry and solicitation; match prospective funding sources with institutional priorities; participate in recurring meetings to identify new prospects and strategize about funding priorities.
Grant Writing and Solicitation (40%) – Draft compelling grant proposal narratives for general operating and restricted project grants; assist with drafting corporate proposals; work with accounting and programmatic directors to prepare grant budgets that meet funder guidelines; collaborate across departments to assemble and submit applications by due dates; verify proposal receipt and follow‑up.
Stewardship (15%) – Work with the grants coordinator and project directors to ensure grant‑funded projects are on track and obligations are fulfilled; submit project revisions to funders as necessary; collect and report statistical information.
You Have
At least five years of progressive experience in grants or fundraising‑related roles and previous supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, philanthropy, English, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
GPA or related certification preferred.
Understanding of and ability to work effectively across programs.
Driven to ensure work quality meets established standards and guidelines.
Committed to meeting deadlines.
Collaborative and interacts well with a broad spectrum of individuals.
Demonstrates appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences.
Adept at multi‑tasking and working in a fast‑paced environment.
