Job Summary and Responsibilities Dignity Health at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) is seeking a Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HBP) Surgeon. Our disease‑site specific, comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program is growing in volume, programs, and clinical trials. The surgeon will partner with the Chief of Surgical Oncology and the Chair of the Surgery Department to develop HPB Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and the new Digestive Disease Institute (DDI), including the multidisciplinary pancreas program. The surgeon will foster clinical trials, pursue DHCI, DHMG, SJHMC, and CommonSpirit Health (CSH) goals, lead quality initiatives and performance improvement projects, and participate in tumor boards. The surgeon may also be asked to recruit and hire team members as needed.

Job Requirements

Fellowship‑trained and Board Certified

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills

Evidence of a successful clinical practice

Teaching and clinical trial experience

Focus on quality and standards of care

Collaborative with other specialties

Dedication to delivering high quality, compassionate care for patients in Phoenix and rural Arizona

Eligible for unrestricted Arizona State medical licensure

Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital/surgical privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals

Acceptable references from supervisor, peer, subordinate, registered nurse, and/or research mentor

Willingness to abide by and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of CommonSpirit Health

Where You'll Work The Dignity Health Cancer Institute is a 220,000 s.f., dedicated outpatient oncology facility located within the Phoenix Biomedical Campus, less than 2 miles from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. DHCI offers comprehensive oncology services with specialized disease‑site groups for Breast, GYN, GI, HPB, GU, Thoracic, Head & Neck, Melanoma, soft tissue Sarcoma, and Supportive Care/Survivorship. St. Joseph’s Hospital is a 571‑bed, not‑for‑profit hospital that provides a wide range of health services and is a flagship of Dignity Health and a member of CommonSpirit Health.

Pay Range $180.00 – $288.46 /hour
