Base Certification requirement: CRCST from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or CSPDT from The Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Advanced Certification: CIS from HSPA; CSIS from CBSPD; Certification in Endoscope Reprocessing (CER) from HSPA; Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) from CBSPD; CHL from HSPA; CSPM from CBSPD. Must complete and hold an advanced certification from either HSPA or CBSPD within 6 months of hire. Advanced Certification may be any of the following: CIS, CSIS, CER, CFER, CHL, CSPM. Must maintain certification by completing CEUs and renewing certifications as a condition of employment. High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience or training At least five (5) years recent experience in a similar Central Processing Unit Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience adhering to American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommended practices. Knowledge of AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) Recommended practices on: care of instruments, scopes & powered surgical instruments; cleaning and processing of instruments; selection & use of packaging materials; surgical attire; traffic patterns in the surgical suites; operating room sanitation. Strong attention to detail, quality, and thoroughness to complete work in timely and accurate manner. Independent critical thinking skills and initiative to recognize, identify and solve problems recognizing potential impact to others, patients, internal and external customers. Experience using Central Processing Unit programs and computers including instrument tracking program, email, spreadsheets, and word processing software. Ability to apply policy and procedure when making decisions. Ability to identify, analyze and report problems accurately and timely. Ability to exercise sound judgment to recognize situations that need to be escalated and notify supervisor or other management of unusual or unexpected situations. Ability to assist in planning and organizing workflow well; and to meet established turn-around-times, and deadlines. Ability to prioritize work to meet established turnaround times and administrative deadlines. Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to problems and tackle issues in a self-motivated manner in line with the direction of the project team and the organization. Ability to always maintain a satisfactory level of performance. Self-motivation and ability to work independently to complete work or projects as instructed in a timely, qualitative and productive manner. Awareness and sensitivity to the diversity, equity, and inclusion of others as part of a positive work culture. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and acceptance of individual differences to achieve a common goal. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to the appropriate target audience. Sterile Processing supports 40+ operating rooms by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation, flexible scopes and case cart assembly. Central Processing supports Patient Care Services, Ambulatory Services and the Primary Care Network by cleaning and disinfecting reusable equipment and sterilizing instrumentation. Central Processing cleans and restocks emergency crash carts and other supplies. Sterile Processing also manages fiscal, material, and human resources to support planning and coordination of surgical care and other patient care. Position Information
