Position Overview As the leader of UNT College and Unit Development, the AVP will provide direction for university fundraising efforts in academic units, collaborating with respective deans and other senior administrators in developing impactful philanthropic agendas-consistent with UNT’s and colleges and units’ strategic plans-for major and prospective donors. The AVP will serve as a member of university advancement’s executive leadership team.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and seven years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience or training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of fundraising strategies in higher education.

Ability to communicate institutional vision and build strategic partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree

Minimum ten years of professional fundraising experience or appropriate related experience.

Minimum five years of experience managing multi-level professional fundraising staff.

Experience in higher education fundraising preferred.

Competency in face-to-face solicitations at the principal gift level.

Extensive strategic planning experience and experience working with boards and volunteers.

Job Duties

Provide leadership and support in managing college and school development officers. * Supervise professionals within academic unit focused major gift team. Providing strategic direction, oversight, and coaching; strategize portfolio assignments and annual/campaign fundraising goals to maximize philanthropy and connection to UNT. Collaborate with the Assoc. VP of Development and the Vice President for Advancement on strategic initiatives across the University or campaigns focusing the broader fundraising effort. * Provide consistent communications and coordination, with the Assoc. VP of Development, to drive staff behavior, maintain and build a positive culture, and establish efficient and productive methods. * Collaborate with University Advancement team members to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate with other UNT staff and volunteers to significantly increase private gifts to UNT. * Recruit, select, motivate, train and mentor development officers for colleges and units. * Plan, establish clear performance objectives and goals, oversee, and formally evaluate the work of college and unit development teams. * Lead a team focused on and committed to relationship management both within the University and with constituents outside of the University. * Provide leadership for volunteer activities as appropriate including board development, cultivation programming, solicitation strategies, and the effective execution of these initiatives.

Maintain a personal major, principal and planned giving portfolio of prospects. * Raise significant levels of philanthropic support by building, growing and strategically managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors both personally and through management of team members portfolios.

Other duties as assigned. * Will work closely with Dean’s and Department Chairs, coordinating with the Assoc. VP of Development, to help identify strategic priorities and staffing needs. * To work closely with the Assoc. VP of Development and the VP of Advancement to provide strategic leadership regarding philanthropic development.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; Typical 40-hour work week with possible flex-time schedule and hybrid work opportunities.
