About the Role The Assistant Automation Maintenance Manager assists in developing and implementing automation maintenance procedures for warehouse automation equipment and systems. The role supports the operation of DC automation equipment through continuous preventive maintenance and timely repairs, and works closely with AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot), shelf‑goods‑to‑person technologies, vacuum‑assisted lifting, conveyance and sortation technologies.

Compensation and Schedule Salaried (based on experience). Monday – Friday, full‑time, exempt. ONSITE: 16427 West Prologis Parkway – Lockport, IL 60441.

What You Will Do

Support daily equipment and building maintenance.

Identify and solve operational issues with conveyance and robotic equipment while implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives.

Assist in hiring, supervising, developing, and managing performance of technicians.

Help develop and implement maintenance procedures.

Conduct inspections to identify and resolve issues proactively.

Check electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems of buildings.

Plan and oversee repair and installation activities.

Allocate workload and supervise the Automation maintenance staff.

Monitor equipment spare parts inventory and order as directed.

Assist in monitoring expenses and budgeting for Automation maintenance.

Interact with contractors and service providers as needed.

Maintain maintenance logs and reports for assigned sites.

Conduct performance evaluations for Automation Maintenance associates.

Serve as leader for equipment installations and modifications.

Work collaboratively with other Maintenance employees.

Ensure safety compliance and proper PPE usage.

Travel 30‑40% (initially heavier). Provision for weekend and/or late shifts due to 20‑hour daily operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

10+ years of experience in maintenance of technical systems with 3‑5 years supervisory experience.

Proficiency in mechanical and electrical maintenance, blueprint and schematic reading.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Occasional forklift operation and ability to work overtime/flexible hours.

Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Demands Stand and walk for an 8+ hour shift; frequent grasping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and handling items up to 50 lbs; operate scissor lifts at heights up to 40 feet.

Working Environment

Work performed entirely in a warehouse; conditions range from warm to cool.

Exposure to moderate noise from machines and equipment.

Must handle high‑volume, high‑demand environment and meet combustible customer deadlines.

Must be able to change priorities and interact with employees at all levels.
