Principal Solution Architect – Cloud Foundations Location: Miramar, FL

Duration: Long term contract

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solution Architect (Cloud Foundations) to lead the design and implementation of foundational AWS infrastructure. This role emphasizes expertise in AWS EKS, serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate), IAM, landing zone design, disaster recovery, and cloud cost management. The ideal candidate will also support automation and DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities:

Design deployment and solution architecture diagrams for new and existing cloud services.

Define and review architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.

Collaborate with cloud and digital engineering teams on AWS infrastructure solutions.

Serve as a mentor and advisor to DevSecOps and Cloud Engineering teams.

Evaluate and recommend cloud‑native tools, frameworks and services.

Occasionally participate in hands‑on prototyping or proof‑of‑concept activities to validate designs.

Design and implement secure and scalable AWS landing zones.

Architect and manage AWS EKS clusters for containerized workloads.

Develop serverless solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway and related services.

Establish and enforce IAM policies and role‑based access controls.

Design disaster recovery and business continuity strategies in AWS.

Monitor and optimize cloud cost and usage across AWS accounts.

Ensure compliance with cloud security and regulatory standards.

Integrate automation and DevSecOps tooling into foundational cloud services.

Document cloud architecture, policies, and operational procedures.

Technical Environment:

Primary Cloud Platform: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Nice‑to‑have Exposure: Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Deep expertise in AWS services (EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, etc.)

Strong understanding of Kubernetes (EKS) — lifecycle, deployment, application delivery

Familiarity with DevSecOps toolchains and integration practices

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) preferred

Understanding of application lifecycle management and CI/CD pipelines

Ideal Background:

10+ years overall IT experience with 5+ years in cloud architecture (AWS preferred)

Candidates with backgrounds in software engineering transitioning to infrastructure or vice versa are both viable.

Experience in large‑scale, high‑demand enterprise or SaaS environments.

Preference for candidates who demonstrate practical, hands‑on experience over purely theoretical or certification‑based knowledge.

Soft Skills & Team Fit:

Strong communicator capable of providing mentorship and guidance across multiple teams.

Ability to translate architecture principles into actionable engineering standards.

Collaborative mindset — must be comfortable partnering closely with DevSecOps and Cloud teams.

Balance of strategic architectural thinking and occasional hands‑on execution when needed.

MUST HAVES:

10+ years industry experience with 5+ years in cloud architecture roles.

Expert‑level knowledge of AWS services including EKS, Lambda, IAM, Organizations, and networking.

Experience designing and implementing landing zones and multi‑account strategies.

Strong understanding of disaster recovery and high availability architectures.

Proficiency in cloud cost management tools and techniques.

Working knowledge of DevSecOps practices and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with AWS Control Tower and Service Catalog.

Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks.

Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform scripting.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Technical degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
