THE ROLE
Flagship Global Initiatives is responsible for bridging our Boston-based ecosystem with regional life sciences hubs to broaden our impact on human health and the health of our planet. We see increased opportunity to bring Flagship’s unique innovation engine to geographies around the world, bringing our approach to pioneering and company building to new places and maximizing our strategic and capital relationships.
We are seeking an Associate Director, Strategy and Operations for an exciting, unusual opportunity to shape, coordinate, and execute programs under Flagship’s global initiatives and drive significant value for Flagship. This role is central to aligning cross-functional leadership, managing interdependent timelines and project teams to ensure we achieve measurable results, and advancing strategic partnering efforts across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and APAC. This role will interface with our existing regional hubs, contribute to shaping our presence in additional regions, and include significant responsibility for driving specific projects. This will include contributions to a high priority project to create a new company, leveraging Flagship’s ecosystem of science platforms to create a diversified portfolio and commercialize new medicines.

You will work closely with senior leaders to manage strategy and operations, and you will have numerous opportunities to represent your work, gain exposure to leading project teams, support decision-making and analytics, and maintain momentum across multiple programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Coordination & Governance
Maintain project plans and track progress across research, clinical, regulatory strategic activities regulatory and core G&A efforts (talent, legal, finance)
Organize and facilitate bi-weekly leadership meetings, e.g. Global Opportunities Management Meeting
Ensure timelines, resources, risks, and priorities are tracked, aligned and coordinated across regions
Responsible for drafting numerous communications to senior stakeholders in U.S. and foreign countries
Strategic Planning & Execution
Partner with senior leadership to define and execute workflows (e.g., portfolio enablement, operational infrastructure)
Support strategic meetings, workshops, and reporting to Flagship senior leaders
Support strategic analysis of Flagship ecosystem-wide therapeutic programs, commercialization opportunities, TPP, and clinical development to identify opportunities for global partnerships.
Develop timelines, meeting minutes, and briefing materials that drive clarity and accountability to ensure major initiatives are being driven forward
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a central point of coordination among global team members and leadership
Manage agendas, meeting cadence, and follow-ups across functional areas
Coordinate with team members to ensure clear roles and ownership
Slide Content Generation
Central owner of slide library and data
Drive the development of critical investor slides and materials
Operational and Team Support
Help build team commitment and spirit across cross-border initiatives
Support the set-up of fit for purpose operating systems, dashboards, and communication channels
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience in biotech, pharma; prior management consulting or global innovation a plus; Prior experience working with the Flagship Pioneering ecosystem of companies preferred
Advanced degree in life sciences or business preferred (PhD, MD, MBA, or equivalent experience).
Strong interest and comfort in entrepreneuring
Comfortable operating in ambiguity with a strong bias toward action
Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional projects, building relationships and creating high performing teams
Exceptional communication, organizational, and strategic thinking skills
Experience in management consulting, clinical development, regulatory operations, or startup/scale-up environments is a plus

The salary range for this role is $148,000 - $203,500. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
