Director of Leadership Giving, Bloomberg School of Public Health (Environmental Health & Engineering) Join the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Development and Alumni Relations division as the Director of Leadership Giving for the Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health (JHIPH), a University‑wide Institute collaborating across the university. In this hybrid role (3 days onsite per week), you will lead all fundraising efforts for JHIPH, build a diverse portfolio of major donors, cultivate corporate and foundation support, and partner with the Institute’s leadership to articulate a strategic vision for planetary health philanthropy.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a fundraising strategy with the JHIPH leadership team and BSPH senior development staff to secure 50‑75 major donors (annual $500‑$1.5M first two years, $3‑$5M years 4‑5+).

Oversee individual donor relationships (major gifts, annual giving) and manage stewardship, direct mail, and personalized reporting.

Partner with the university’s central foundation team to identify grant opportunities and lead Letters of Inquiry and proposals.

Collaborate with the university’s central corporate relations team to develop a corporate fundraising strategy.

Prepare and manage the development budget and forecast for JHIPH leadership.

Align JHIPH communications with fundraising efforts, coordinating with JHIPH, BSPH, and university communication teams.

Mentor and train JHIPH leadership and affiliated faculty on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Attend relevant BSPH development team meetings and participate in training as required.

Advisory Board Management

Coordinate Alliance Advisory Board fundraising activities, including annual solicitation plans, quarterly and annual reports, and documentation of meeting action steps.

Develop a strategy for a future institute‑wide advisory board.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Five years of professional experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Ten years of related professional experience, with at least five years of major gift experience and two years of principal gift experience.

International fundraising experience preferred.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Interpersonal skills and a high standard of professional ethics and integrity.

Experience in a complex higher education fundraising environment.

Background or interest in environmental sciences / Earth systems.

Commitment to cultural humility and social justice orientation.

Team‑oriented, accountable, supportive, conscientious.

Self‑aware, confident, non‑defensive, willing to take risks.

Mission‑driven, persistent drive toward results, and transparent ethical leadership.

Salary and Benefits Salary range: $85,000 - $149,800 (targeted $130,000). Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5:00 pm, hybrid, East Baltimore Campus, School of Public Health.
