Overview ERG seeks a motivated
Technical Director, Engineer (Sediment Site Investigation & Risk Assessment)
to lead our sediment Site Investigation and Remediation Management (SI/RM) practice in the Pacific Northwest. The position may be based from a local ERM office with hybrid status or fully remote if within 100 miles of an ERM office. The ideal candidate brings significant sediment engineering, consulting, and project management experience, and will provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and cutting‑edge approaches to grow ERM’s sediment SI/RM practice for marine and freshwater sites. Our practice covers the full contaminated site lifecycle, utilizing state‑of‑the‑art digital tools and data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and develop feasibility studies, remedial designs, and remedial strategies for CERCLA and other sediment remediation sites.
Provide strategic advice to clients for sediment remediation sites and collaborate with ERM global practitioners on complex projects.
Oversee projects within scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring quality standards on deliverables.
Contribute to expanding ERM’s SI/RM services annually by developing new opportunities, preparing proposals, and leading business development.
Build and expand client relationships to generate repeat business and increase market share in the SI/RM market.
Support cross‑selling of other ERM services, including nature‑based solutions.
Provide leadership in managing staff performance, recruitment, retention, and mentoring for overall team success.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, chemical, or civil engineering, or related discipline.
Professional Engineer license.
8+ years of experience conducting remedial construction design/engineering and CERCLA‑style sediment site assessment, investigation, and remediation projects.
8+ years of experience managing large sediment site investigation/remediation projects.
Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and mentoring skills.
Advanced knowledge of regulatory climate around sediment site investigation and remediation and recognized technical expertise.
Business development experience for large programs/contracts and existing client relationships is preferred.
Litigation experience related to sediment sites is an advantage.
Ability to travel to sediment sites and attend client and stakeholder meetings.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle as required by job duties.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements
Master’s or Ph.D. in environmental, chemical, or civil engineering, or related discipline.
15+ years of experience conducting remedial construction design/engineering and CERCLA‑style sediment site assessment/ investigation/ remediation projects.
10+ years of experience managing large sediment site investigation/remediation projects.
Compensation Annual base pay range: $152,572 – $190,976 (USD). The final salary will be based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales metrics, and business needs. Bonus compensation may be available on a discretionary basis.
