The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) has launched a multi-year modernization initiative to transition from its legacy systems to a modern, distributed, and cost-effective environment. This initiative will replace existing business applications with COTS solutions and internally developed systems, improving efficiency, scalability, and service delivery.
The selected Project Manager, assigned to the Project Management Office (PMO), will oversee the full lifecycle of project execution using PMI best practices and the GDOL Project Management Methodology.
Responsibilities The Project Manager will direct and coordinate all project activities, including but not limited to:
Project Planning & Scheduling – develop, maintain, and monitor timelines and milestones
Resource Management – track project resources and ensure appropriate allocation
Risk Management – identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
Communications & Reporting – manage stakeholder communications and provide regular project updates
Quality Management – maintain standards and ensure deliverables meet project requirements
Vendor Management – collaborate with external partners to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables
You will be responsible for managing complex technology projects with aggressive timelines, ensuring end-to-end execution and delivery.
Required Qualifications (Must-Have Skills)
Active PMP Certification (required)
Proven success managing large-scale, complex IT projects across the full systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
Experience with multiple delivery methodologies: Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, and Kanban
Documented expertise in: Business requirements gathering and documentation
Business process mapping
Testing methodologies and deployment oversight
Managed at least two full lifecycle Agile software development projects (initiation → deployment/warranty)
Teams of 10+ members
Full accountability for end-to-end project management
Experience managing enterprise-level software development and implementation projects
Proven success collaborating with vendor partners for solution delivery
Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills
Proficiency in PM tools, including: MS Project Professional, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, SharePoint
Candidates must reside in the Metro Atlanta area.
