1:00PM – 5:00/6:00 PM (varies per location)

Locations:

LAUSD (SFV, South LA, South Gate, Huntington Park, West LA/Westwood), Garvey Elementary School District (Rosemead/San Gabriel/Monterey Park), Green Dot Public Schools (LA), Inner City Education Foundation (View Park), Aspire Public Schools, Brightstar Schools, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, Lennox School District (Lennox), Pomona Unified School District (Pomona) and Claremont Unified School District (Claremont).

Overview:

The Club Leader position is an on-site role that includes attending training at the Woodcraft Rangers main office in Little Tokyo and school sites.

Role Overview:

Club Leaders are responsible for ensuring a fun and positive learning environment for club participants and will support clubs of approximately 20 children. All staff include a site coordinator and a community liaison. Staff may choose to work at school sites, sleepaway camp, or both.

Ensure students are in a safe environment (physically and emotionally) and promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful atmosphere for program participants, staff, and families.

Develop and lead age-appropriate activities that are FUN, engaging, and aligned with a whole-child approach (social-emotional learning, skill building, self-esteem, leadership, etc.).

Monitor participant attendance and engagement to ensure active participation.

Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Collaborate with colleagues and supervisor to develop culminating activities or events showcasing participant work and accomplishments.

Request required materials in a timely manner so the Site Coordinator can ensure availability and budget adherence.

Comply with safety requirements and emergency protocols, including trainings and certifications; may be required to attend off-site field trips.

Maintain and submit student attendance daily.

Participate in staff development trainings as required (approximately 15 hours across multiple weekends/intersessional days in spring).

Club Leaders are accountable to the Site Coordinator and Program Manager for assigned duties.

Other related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate:

Ideally, detail-oriented, energetic, ambitious, proactive, and positive, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Multi-tasking and attention to detail are important strengths. Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of staff and peers during in-person training.

Requirements:

Knowledge and experience working in expanded learning programs or youth recreational facilities

Minimum High School Diploma or GED (AA Degree in Child Development or related field preferred); prior experience with K-12 students in academic or recreational settings preferred

Work well with young children and/or youth

Good oral and written communication

Computer literacy and willingness to learn

Valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance, and CPR Certification

Must successfully pass an assessment test evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling
