Unified Communications Architect – USCIS – Remote
Job Title: Unified Communications Architect (UC Architect) – Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – USCIS Office of Information Technology Architecture Engineering Support (AES2). Location: Fully Remote. Position Type: Full‑time. Clearance Requirement: Must obtain DHS Suitability security clearance before the start date.
Overview ITC Federal is an information technology and consulting company dedicated to servicing the needs of the Federal Government. This role supports USCIS OIT by delivering enterprise IT architecture, engineering, and solution development services. The team partners across OIT to design, implement, and optimize leading‑edge technologies‑including cloud, network, Zero Trust architecture, automation, and AI/ML—using agile and DevOps practices. The work enables USCIS to modernize IT systems, enhance mission delivery, and support major enterprise initiatives such as digitization, cloud migration, and software‑defined networking.
Responsibilities
Architect and design secure, scalable unified communications solutions across the enterprise.
Implement and optimize VoIP, SIP, video conferencing, and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
Design and manage QoS policies, network requirements, and call routing strategies to ensure high‑performance UC services.
Develop user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) designs for UC solutions, ensuring intuitive and effective workflows.
Apply organizational change management (OCM) best practices to support adoption of new UC tools and processes.
Define UC technical standards, policies, and best practices.
Collaborate with OIT stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership to align solutions with mission and enterprise objectives.
Provide architectural oversight and guidance throughout the design, implementation, and transition of UC solutions.
Contribute to ongoing modernization initiatives, including digital collaboration adoption and enterprise UC transformation.
Qualifications
7‑10+ years of experience in unified communications architecture/systems design.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field strongly preferred; advanced degree preferred.
Proven expertise in unified communications systems design, VoIP, SIP, and QoS for UC, and video conferencing and collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience influencing enterprise‑level technology decisions.
Ability to design solutions that balance innovation, performance, scalability, and user experience.
Must be eligible to obtain DHS Suitability clearance.
Experience with UC UX/UI design and workflow optimization.
Experience with organizational change management (OCM) for technology adoption.
Work Environment and Physical Demands This position is fully remote. Candidates must have a dedicated workspace, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to participate in virtual meetings and collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
