POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mobile Podiatrist to join our team and provide expert podiatric care to our elderly patients in their homes. This role requires a dedicated healthcare professional who can create a safe and respectful environment while addressing a variety of podiatric conditions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to develop individualized treatment plans, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. Driving is a required aspect of this position, as you will be traveling to various patient locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care
Deliver expert podiatric care, addressing conditions such as diabetic foot care, bunions, calluses, corns, and ingrown toenails.
Perform routine foot care services, including nail trimming, corn and callus removal, and preventative care.
Provide lower extremity wound care, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring of wounds to promote healing and prevent complications.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and needs.
Order DME products as necessary, including diabetic shoes and wound care dressings.
Medical Charting
Complete accurate and timely medical charting in an Electronic Medical Record system for all patient encounters, ensuring compliance with documentation standards
Work collaboratively with a medical assistant to manage patient needs, assist with charting, and enhance the overall patient care experience.
Ensure that medical assistants document the correct ICD-10 codes and billing codes for services rendered
Patient Education
Provide education to patients and their families on foot health, proper footwear, and the prevention of complications.
Teach patients how to perform self-examinations of their feet and recognize early signs of issues.
Offer guidance on the importance of maintaining optimal blood sugar levels for diabetic patients to prevent foot complications.
Inform patients about available resources and support groups for ongoing education and foot care management.
Foster a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment, adapting care to the unique physical and cognitive needs of elderly patients.
Environment and Safety
Ensure a safe and respectful setting for elderly patients during all mobile visits.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of mobile treatment equipment and supplies.
Conduct regular safety checks of mobile equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with health regulations.
Follow infection control protocols to minimize the risk of cross-contamination during patient care.
Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to ensure continuous improvement in patient care practices.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) credentials.
A current state license to practice podiatry.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with elderly patients.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering patient-centered care.
Experience in wound care is required; wound certification is a plus.
Previous experience in a mobile or home healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as driving is required for this position.
