POSITION Resource Center Consultant

LOCATION Southview High School Library

HOURS 10:30 am – 2:30 pm (4 hours)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 9 Months According to School Calenda

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated record of successful employment.

Demonstrated skills in computer usage including: Constructing/Composing a Business Letter, Editing/Correcting a Business Letter, Excel, Google Documents, and Google Calendar.

Valid Educational Aide Permit with highly qualified endorsement is required.

Willing to attend and complete Professional Development meetings when it is offered.

Familiar with PowerSchool, photocopying, scanning, and email.

Knowledge of Internet Research, Smart Board, and basic computer troubleshooting.

Knowledge of general clerical skills including: filing, alphabetizing, and record keeping.

Ability to work without close supervision.

Ability to manage and discipline groups of students.

Must complete all training as required by Sylvania Schools and/or the Ohio Department of Education.

JOB GOAL To provide such help to teachers and students using the media centers, either individually or with groups, to enable them to take full advantage of available resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in locating library/media center materials, Smart Board technology, audio/visual equipment,assist with all clerical tasks, and setting displays and exhibits.

Understand the Dewey Decimal Filing System.

Maintain the media center circulation system on the Destiny Circulation Program.

Maintain excel database with up-to-date entries of new and withdrawn books. Prepare monthly and yearly circulation and inventory reports.

Replace books and media materials in proper storage when they are returned.

Notify teachers and students of overdue materials.

Make simple repairs on damaged materials.

Prepare reserve materials for teachers.

Inventory media center materials and equipment, prepare lists of missing materials and equipment, and decide on items to be discarded. Coordinate material distribution and collection within the school and between the school and the District Media Center.

Support and assist teachers/students in the proper use and operation of equipment. Set up and arrange for operation of A/V equipment and Smart Board technology for special programs. Assign equipment to classrooms as requested.

Provide technical assistance in order to solve software and hardware problems. Maintain shelf list of all books, A/V materials and equipment in the media center. Keep current and knowledgeable of newer technologies.

Responsible for entering personal absences and clock in/out via the Red Rover System.

Responsible to check your district email account on a regular basis, and to communicate as needed via email.

Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as necessary for the successful operation of the building resource center.
