Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) Travel Position Location: Louisville, KY Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) Pay: $2,322/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Louisville, Kentucky. The L&D RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers through labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery. This position involves direct newborn care and requires a strong understanding of high-risk obstetrics, advanced fetal monitoring, and perinatal emergency response.

Candidates must have at least 2 years of recent L&D experience, be proficient in Epic EMR, and successfully pass an advanced dysrhythmia (EKG) exam prior to assignment. The unit offers a collaborative and supportive environment with a high standard of clinical practice and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Provide nursing care for patients during all phases of childbirth — antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum.

Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using AWHONN fetal monitoring standards.

Circulate and recover patients for cesarean sections, tubal ligations, D&Cs, and other obstetric procedures.

Manage high-risk obstetric conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, preterm labor, and placental complications.

Administer IV medications such as magnesium sulfate, oxytocin, and antihypertensives, following hospital protocols.

Provide direct newborn care including stabilization, thermoregulation, and post-delivery recovery.

Assist with triage and management of obstetric emergency cases in the OBED (Obstetric Emergency Department).

Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using Epic EMR.

Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal teams.

Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards.

Take 12 hours of on-call per 4 weeks, rotating as assigned.

Qualifications

Active Kentucky RN license or Compact State RN license (required).

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).

Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (required).

Epic EMR experience required.

Must pass an advanced dysrhythmia (EKG) competency exam.

Required Certifications:

BLS (Basic Life Support)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced required; EFM certification preferred for compliance)

Strong clinical skills in obstetric emergencies and direct newborn care.

Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
