James Fisher Technologies
About Us:
James Fisher Technologies (JFT) is a reputable provider of remote solutions, specialty engineering, and technical services for applications within hazardous environments. In other words, we get things done for the nuclear industry. Everyone at JFT has the chance to forge their career in an environment that values initiative, persistence, respect, curiosity, and passion.
JFT is growing and looking for an experienced Analysis Engineer to join our team in Loveland, CO.
JFT offers some work from home flexibility, but candidates must be within commuting distance to the office. The anticipated closing date for this posting is 11/30/25 and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Job Function: To provide structural, mechanical, fluid, and thermal analysis support to the design and testing of custom mechanical and remote handling systems operating in harsh nuclear environments. This role combines structural integrity evaluation with thermodynamic and fluid flow modeling, enabling JFT systems to meet the rigorous demands of radiation exposure, heat loading, and operational safety.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform detailed structural analysis of machines and support structures using FEA tools to evaluate stress, strain, fatigue, and stability.
Conduct thermal and fluid flow analyses using ANSYS Fluent to model heat transfer and temperature distribution under normal operating and special case envelope conditions.
Analyze custom machines and processing equipment such as robotic manipulators, shielded enclosures, lifting beams, deployment systems, pressure vessels, and support structures.
Integrate CFD and thermodynamic results into the structural loading cases and safety evaluations.
Evaluate equipment performance under combined thermal, mechanical, seismic, and radiological loading conditions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to inform design decisions with actionable analysis outputs.
Contribute to the development of analysis reports, technical documentation, and DOE deliverables.
Participate in hazard and design reviews, including FMEA, HAZOP, and system readiness assessments.
Assist with planning and interpreting thermal/structural tests, including instrumentation layout, thermocouple data, and strain gauges.
Utilize bounding assumptions to simplify the analysis and judgment to minimize the number of load cases required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear, or related Engineering field.
5+ years of experience in structural and/or thermal analysis in high-consequence environments.
Familiarity with ASME Code Section III, VIII, B31.3, ASCE 4, 7 and 43 and DOE nuclear safety standards DOE-STD-1020, 1073, 3009.
Experience with analysis and calculations such as FEA, stress/fatigue/vibration analysis.
Proficient with ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Fluent or equivalent CFD/FEA tools.
Strong understanding of structures, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
Strong technical writing skills; ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation.
Professional Engineer or working towards achieving.
Experience in design and testing of systems in nuclear or radiological environments with working knowledge of complex mechanical equipment and fabrications.
Possess working knowledge of materials and processing, business acumen and commercial awareness.
Able to work on DOE or government contracts and this position may require the incumbent to work with export-controlled items.
Typical Working Conditions: Primarily an office environment with work periodically performed in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. Depending on the project, there may be occasional travel to customer job sites. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors is essential. May occasionally lift and carry objects, materials, or equipment, typically under 50 pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling to access and inspect equipment or systems may also be necessary.
James Fisher Technologies, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
JFT participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. JFT will not sponsor employment visas at this time.
A criminal history background check will be obtained pre-employment.
