Our client in manufacturing is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team near Milwaukee, WI. In this role, you will be mentored and trained in high-frequency magnetic design, building your skills toward designing and developing custom transformers, inductors, and chokes for power electronics. You’ll work with a range of magnetic materials and construction methods to deliver high-efficiency, manufacturable solutions that meet global safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute across the entire product lifecycle – from initial requirements gathering to prototype and production – while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams as well as customers. This is a great opportunity for someone with foundational knowledge in magnetics and switch-mode power supplies, ready to grow their career and skillset, who enjoys diverse projects and values growth within a collaborative U.S.-based design and manufacturing team.
Responsibilities
Design magnetic components for power electronics (1–500 kHz range)
Develop with ferrite, Sendust, powdered iron, and other core materials
Perform simulations and modeling
Optimize designs for efficiency, thermal performance, and manufacturability
Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, and other safety and performance standards
Work with customers to understand requirements and translate into designs
Collaborate on prototyping and cross-functional design reviews
Produce and maintain BOMs, drawings, test plans, and spec sheets
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required
3+ years of electrical product design and/or development experience required
Foundational knowledge of magnetics and switch-mode power supply required
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar modeling tools required
