Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
This position will be responsible for the CVN 80/81 technical review of Propulsion Plant Build Authorities, Electric Equipment install oversight. Additionally, this position will provide waterfront engineering support for A1B class electrical power distribution and electrical propulsion plant systems. A qualified individual must have a background and knowledge of the A1B Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) system, Motor Turbine Generator (MTG) system, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. Strong Technical Writing Skills and the ability to provide TS&R direction to trades for A1B Electrical propulsion plant systems. The knowledge to cross-reference and create replacement propulsion plant part numbers. Strong problem identification and resolution skills. Familiar with Microsoft Office application, SAP, and Teamcenter/NX. Nice to Have
