To support its expanding portfolio, Jupiter Power is seeking a DA Trader responsible for supporting activities to optimize the daily trading and dispatch of its battery energy storage systems (BESS) in power markets, initially focusing on ERCOT. Regular duties include: Determining and executing daily trading positions in accordance with BESS dispatch capabilities, including buy/sell commitments for real-time, day-ahead, and ancillary services markets, using proprietary and third-party software and forecasts. Assisting with real-time asset optimization, including state of charge management. Implementing market positions and submitting plans and adjustments timely, coordinating with risk management policies. Capturing operational learnings to improve trading decisions and optimization applications. Responsibilities include: Executing daily trading and scheduling decisions for next-day BESS operation in ERCOT, including hourly commitments in various markets. Developing bid and offer strategies based on market knowledge, forecasts, and BESS constraints. Analyzing constraints and outages affecting project node pricing for dispatch decisions. Providing guidance to the real-time desk on market fundamentals and obligations. Ensuring assets are scheduled effectively under market rules and participating in regulatory updates. Performing daily P&L analysis and reviewing market activities to improve performance. Analyzing market data to develop expertise in dispatch processes and market dynamics. Evaluating forecasting models used for optimization decisions. Collaborating with the Data Science team to improve market assessment tools and storage optimization platforms. Working with the SCADA team to troubleshoot communication issues. Minimum qualifications include: Five or more years in control room operations, power trading, or generation scheduling, with at least two years on a centralized generation desk. Familiarity with energy storage technologies is advantageous. A degree in finance, economics, math, electrical theory, or related fields may substitute for some experience.
