SQL Developer/ Database Administrator (Temporary project role)

Where You'll Work

This is a

6-month temporary/contract role , reporting daily

onsite

(M-F 9:00AM - 6:00PM CST) at UNIFY's Operations Center in Allen, TX.

Qualified candidates must be local to the Dallas/ Ft. Worth metroplex and commutable to Allen for interviews and daily to work the role (if offered).

What You'll Do

As a key member of the Data & Analytics team, you'll help ensure that data flows smoothly and securely across the organization. Your work will focus on maintaining, optimizing, and expanding our data pipelines and administering a large SQL Server environment. You will also be consolidating and optimizing two, disparate data environments into one.

ETL & Data Pipeline Development

Build, manage, and document SSIS packages for enterprise-level data ingestion, transformation, and load processes

Troubleshoot and tune workflows for performance and reliability

Adapt pipelines to meet evolving business needs

SQL Server Administration

Administer multiple VM-based SQL Server instances and Azure SQL Managed Instances

Monitor and optimize performance - queries, indexes, stored procedures

Implement and enforce security, access control, and encryption best practices

Analytics Platform Integration

Collaborate with analysts and developers to deliver accurate, timely data to Power BI datasets and SSRS reports

Contribute to semantic model design and refresh performance

Support data validation, governance, and documentation initiatives

What You'll Bring

5+ years of hands-on experience building and managing

data pipelines

on Microsoft SQL Server, including SSIS and SQL Agent

Strong

T-SQL

skills and stored procedure optimization experience

3+ years administering SQL Server environments

Experience supporting analytics platforms such as

Power BI

or Tableau

Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

(preferred) Familiarity with

Azure SQL

(Managed Instance or Azure SQL Database)

Summary:

Install, maintain and monitor UNIFY Financial Credit Union's Structured Query Language (SQL) database environment.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with system engineers to install, configure & fine-tune SQL Servers on physical and/or virtual machines, to ensure data security & availability and meet the necessity of database setup and refresh in development and live environments.

Creates and operates redundant data centers.

Implements and administers Microsoft native high availability /replication technologies.

Create, administer and fine tune database backup, restore and archive strategies and processes.

Designs and implements database tuning and optimization such as routine review and refining of indexing strategies; plans and applies index defragging and statistical update policies.

Performs database diagnostics and query optimizations and monitoring, monitors database capacity.

Develops automated database maintenance utilities.

Ensures security implementation such as roles and data encryption.

Works closely with developers to design and create triggers, stored procedures, and jobs.

Creates and updates documentation on SQL structures, hardware and purpose.

Provides Database Administrators support on existing SQL Server environments including change management, code releases, break/fix and (7X24) on call support.

Serves as liaison between functional users and technical staff, provides user support and training.

Implements replication throughout multiple data centers.

Optimizes performance of each SQL database through hardware and software strategies.

Provides the development department with SQL support through SQL scripting and functions.

Develops and maintains effective internal departmental relations and external relationships with vendors.

Ensures full compliance with UNIFY Financial Credit Union Service Standards, policies, procedures and the Bank Secrecy Act.

Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years-related experience preferably in a financial institution with a thorough knowledge of administering SQL Server 2005 / 2008.

Requires experience in the migration of SQL 2005 to 2008 along with the installation and configuration of SQL 2005/2008 with best practices of storage performance, experience with implementing, maintaining, scaling, tuning, and deploying SQL Server solutions, knowledge of disaster recovery solutions and database failure contingency planning (Log Shipping, Mirroring, Clustering, etc.) and experience with database hardware troubleshooting (SAN, Memory, CPU, Read / Writes, etc.).

Also requires the ability to write T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and jobs, an understanding of SQL report development and ETL technologies, the ability to be self-motivated and able to work independently and a team player across functional units.

Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, discipline in following project timelines and time management skills and MS office proficiency also required.
