Preferred Qualifications

At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience overseeing teams of custodial staff

Strong understanding of custodial supplies, materials, cleaning equipment, techniques, and industry standards

Proficient in operation and maintenance of custodial tools and machines used in large facilities/campus buildings

Proven ability to coordinate, schedule, and supervise custodial work for a crew of ~6-10 employees

Exceptional leadership skills that foster employee development, accountability, and performance feedback

Position Summary The Building Services Worker Lead is a key position within Facilities Management Division's Building Services unit. Reporting directly to a Manager, this incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day management of custodial operations within an assigned building or collection of buildings. The Building Services Worker Lead directly supervises crews approximately 6 to 10 employees who are responsible for care, cleaning, and minor maintenance of campus building and fixtures. Responsible for communicating information and training material related to productivity, safety, and work performance. Provides guidance to Building Service Workers; verbally, written, and electronically, regarding personnel concerns, team performance, employee development, employee performance, overall work results, stakeholder experience and satisfaction. Works closely with other Building Service Worker Leads within Building Services and other shifts to ensure seamlessness of operations including work routines, equipment and supply recommendations and purchases. This is a working leadership position whereby the Lead will often have to perform the duties of their employees if they are short staffed. This position is considered Key and Essential and can be expected to be recalled 24/7 in an emergency situation.

Thorough knowledge of custodial supplies & materials, cleaning equipment, products, techniques and industry standards.

Thorough knowledge of the operation and care of custodial equipment, tools, and supplies common to the care of large facilities and campuses.

Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with stakeholders.

Knowledge in coordinating, scheduling, and supervising work activities and others.

Excellent leadership skills that promote employee development and accountability.

Ability to identify and implement changes to increase efficiencies.

Ability to type and be computer literate in the use of all Microsoft Office applications, proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and quickly adaptable on all internal UGA computer systems.

Duties/Responsibilities Oversee and direct the custodial operations, for a crew of approx. 6 - 10 employees of an assigned building or collection of buildings Provide emergency support as needed.

Directs the custodial cleaning and operations (includes light bulb maintenance accessible from 8' ladders).
