Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator specializing in
commercial roofing for new construction projects . This role is critical in supporting the preconstruction phase by accurately estimating costs, materials, and labor for roofing systems across a variety of commercial developments including industrial, retail, institutional, and multi-family projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for commercial roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, and built-up roofing. Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Conduct site visits and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather scope details. Develop quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors. Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness. Maintain and update historical cost data and pricing databases. Assist in bid preparation, proposal development, and client presentations. Coordinate with operations and field teams to ensure alignment between estimates and execution plans.
Required Experience & Skills:
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in commercial roofing, with a focus on new construction. Strong understanding of roofing systems, materials, and installation methods. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Edge, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Familiarity with local building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Preferred Technical Expertise:
Low-slope roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC) Steep-slope roofing (shingles, metal, slate) Roof insulation and vapor barriers Flashing, coping, and drainage systems Coordination with HVAC, plumbing, and structural trades
