THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Insurance Department is looking for a Clerical Assistant 3 to provide essential support to our Claims Administration Division, ensuring efficient operations. In this role, you will be responsible for performing initial coverage verification of initial claim reporting and establishing claim files in the IT system. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be determining if coverage periods reported by insurers as established by the coverage unit will apply to the reported claim, and whether multiple types of information is missing, incorrect, contradicts, or valid. Work involves collaborating with the compliance and coverage units, coverage specialists, and insurers to determine exact coverage problems. You will have the opportunity to provide technical guidance to insurance industry personnel when reporting a claim regarding applicable coverage factors and types of coverage provided. You will also be responsible for accepting or rejecting coverage for claims within specific guidelines and determining if more information is required from insurer or healthcare provider. Additional responsibilities include: Compiling explanations of communications with insurers and healthcare providers in the IT system Correlating claims that are accepted with existing case files to avoid duplication and centralize all information Serving as a liaison with Pennsylvania insurers and healthcare providers Assisting with training of other personnel Tracking and notifying insurers or healthcare providers of unacceptable submissions and validating newly received information

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
or One year of moderately complex clerical experience;
or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
