Job Summary
Phoenix College, a learning-centered community college dedicated to student success, seeks a Mathematics Faculty member to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach courses from developmental to transfer level, using varied instructional methods to engage and support a broad student population. Responsibilities include curriculum development, participation in departmental and college initiatives, and contributing to the College's culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Essential Functions
Supervises and instructs a culturally and academically varied student population in a classroom setting using multiple teaching strategies.
Develops written syllabi, course outline and teaching materials.
Evaluates knowledge of Mathematics taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades students' exams and projects.
Maintains and enhances mathematics expertise and instructional skills by participating in professional development and integrating new trends and technologies into instruction.
Maintains office hours to assist and advise students.
Engages in the academic growth of the college by participating in district-wide, campus and departmental activities, committee work, and community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in the teaching field, such as mathematics, probability, statistics, applied mathematics, actuarial science, operations research, or decision sciences.
OR
Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics, probability, statistics, applied mathematics, actuarial science, operations research, or decision sciences.
Desired Qualifications Two (2) years of experience teaching higher-level math such as College Algebra to Differential Equations. Experience using open education resources (OER) with current mathematics teaching technologies including graphing calculators, computer software, online tools, and learning management systems. Experience with various classroom instructional strategies that engage students in the learning process, including assessment; provide examples of strategies used. Experience teaching varied student populations, including first-generation college students, with a commitment to supporting STEAM programs. Experience working through professional collaborations to be innovative in a teamwork setting. Experience participating in departmental and campus initiatives/activities. Ability to teach introductory courses in Computer Science preferred.
