Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Mansfield, OH area

Responsibilities

  • Support assigned area related to safety, quality, continuous improvement and troubleshooting.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement projects based on scrap and efficiency metrics, resulting in measurable cost savings.
  • Provide technical support for equipment issues with a “willing to get your hands dirty” mentality.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting (pneumatics, actuators, cameras, vision systems, leak testers, motors, gears, conveyors, etc.).
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting (sensors, robotics, etc.).
  • Support other engineering areas including industrial engineering, product engineering, launch engineering, and quality engineering.
  • Support quality engineering with root cause analysis and 5WHY activity.
  • Update FMEAs and work instructions as needed.
  • Utilize 2D and 3D modeling for creating tooling, fixtures, and jigs to support production.
  • Complete engineering documentation as needed.
  • Oversee multiple (3‑4) engineering projects at a time.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; mechanical related degrees highly desired.
  • 1‑5 years of work experience in similar manufacturing or process engineering roles; strong co‑ops considered.
  • Experience supporting engineering functions in manufacturing environments that ideally include automation, robotics and/or PLCs.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • 2D and 3D modeling experience.
  • Experience with formal problem solving tools (5WHY, fishbone diagrams, 8D, etc.).
  • Experience with continuous improvement, including implementing process improvements (scrap reductions, increasing efficiencies, etc.).
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

Optional Skills

  • Automotive supplier work experience.
  • Assembly experience.
  • FANUC robotics.
  • Project management, including overseeing timelines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLCs.
