Job Title : Cost Accountant
Location : Orlando, FL 32808
Salary : $65-70k
Reports To : CFO Department : Finance & Accounting
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and managing costs associated with the manufacturing and distribution of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. This role will play a key part in ensuring cost efficiency, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting strategic business decisions. Experience with QuickBooks is required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and analyze cost accounting systems and processes for manufacturing and distribution operations.
Develop and oversee standard cost models.
Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate reporting of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Analyze variances between standard and actual costs, providing insight into production efficiency and cost savings opportunities.
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to cost analysis.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis for new products, capital investments, and operational improvements.
Support pricing strategies by providing detailed cost breakdowns and margin analysis.
Work closely with production, procurement, and logistics teams to improve cost control measures.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial regulations, and company policies.
Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation for cost accounting procedures.
Utilize QuickBooks to track financial transactions, generate reports, and maintain accurate cost records.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and financial analysis.
Proficiency in QuickBooks, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Experience with HVAC and refrigeration equipment manufacturing is a plus.
Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
