Summary Scotty's Contracting and Stone is seeking an experienced Lowboy Driver who is responsible for transporting heavy construction equipment, machinery, and materials to and from jobsites, yards, and shop locations using a lowboy trailer. This position plays a key support role in the Shop Division, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of equipment critical to operations.

Key Responsibilities

Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment (e.g., dozers, excavators, loaders, pavers) using a lowboy trailer

Coordinate with shop personnel and field supervisors for scheduling and delivery of equipment

Conduct routine inspections of the truck and trailer before and after trips; report mechanical issues promptly

Maintain accurate delivery logs and required DOT documentation

Comply with all state and federal transportation regulations (DOT, FMCSA, etc.)

Ensure proper chaining, strapping, and load balance to prevent shifting or damage

Support shop operations as needed, including assisting with equipment moves, minor mechanical tasks, or site deliveries

Communicate effectively with dispatch, shop staff, and field crews regarding equipment movement needs

Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, vendors, or site personnel

Qualifications

Valid Class A CDL

Clean driving record and ability to pass an MVR check

Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screenMust be flexible and willing to work overtime and travel throughout the region

Experience with DOT rules and regulations for transporting heavy equipment preferred

Able to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and overtime as needed.

Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment preferred

Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment: Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold

Proximity Hazards: Must be alert and able to work safely near heavy mobile equipment.

Climbing: Must have the physical capability to safely climb on and off of mobile equipment that is greater than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily.

Vision: 20/40 corrected vision. Must have sufficient hand-eye coordination and dexterity to operate chains, binders, straps, and controls.

Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.

Awkward Positions: Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and twist as needed

Heavy Lifting: Parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
