Position Overview
Responsible for finalizing the design and implementation of a BGP network that will serve as the backbone of our ISP. Pay Rate
$55.00 - $65.00 / Hour Required Qualifications
Core Technical Requirements: BGP Expertise — Ability to design, configure, and maintain BGP routing across multiple peers, including route reflection, policy controls, and failover scenarios. Network Architecture — Design scalable, redundant ISP-grade networks across core, distribution, and edge layers. Security — Knowledge of securing BGP sessions (MD5 authentication, prefix filtering, RPKI), firewall integration, and DDoS mitigation. Protocols & ISP Operations — OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VPNs, QoS, IPv4 / IPv6 management, peering agreements, DNS / DHCP / IPAM. Additional Attributes: Hands-On Implementation — Configure routers / switches, troubleshoot, and operationalize the design. Vendor Experience — Cisco IOS-XR, Palo Alto NGFW, Infoblox, Nutanix, or comparable platforms. Monitoring & Documentation — NOC dashboards, SNMP / NetFlow, detailed runbooks, and network diagrams. Collaboration — Work effectively across city departments (Public Safety, Public Works, Schools, Libraries) and external providers. Soft Skills — Strong communication skills to explain complex designs to varied stakeholders. Problem-solving mindset for escalations and critical incidents.
