Overview
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering seeks a highly motivated and energetic professional to serve as an Academic Coordinator. This position provides a wide variety of administrative, operational, fiscal, and academic support within a research-active department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Department Administrator and Accountant 3 to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the department's responsibilities. Key responsibilities include hiring student employees, managing departmental resources, equipment, and supplies; payroll processing for monthly and bi-weekly employees; handling deposits, transfers, purchasing, travel reimbursements; submitting department work order tickets; assisting with course scheduling; creating and submitting graduate student contracts; and assisting the Graduate Advisor with various administrative tasks. The Academic Coordinator will serve as the primary administrative contact for internal and external constituencies and may coordinate and participate in special projects, meetings, and events, as well as supervise and train student employees as appropriate. Hire student employees and supervise/train student staff as appropriate. Manage departmental resources, equipment, and supplies. Perform payroll for monthly and bi-weekly employees. Complete fiscal tasks such as deposits, transfers, purchasing, travel, and reimbursements. Submit department work order tickets and assist with course scheduling. Create and submit graduate student contracts; assist the Graduate Advisor with administrative tasks. Serve as the primary point of administrative contact for internal and external constituencies. Coordinate and contribute to special projects, meetings, and events. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an academic setting and/or with university policies and guidelines Experience with UNM Banner, MyReports, Workflow, UNMJobs, ePAFs, Chrome River, LoboMart Ability to maintain records and documentation, track and analyze data, and generate reports Human Resources experience including student hiring, contracts, and timekeeping Excellent attention to detail and ability to think critically and analyze information Ability to interact with department personnel in a team environment Ability to learn new software and university programs/systems Additional Requirements
