The Infant/Toddler Teacher facilitates quality, individualized, early childhood education by implementing developmentally appropriate practices in an inclusive environment.

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the teacher works as a team with the Early Childhood Specialists to plan and implement a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children that will enhance their growth and development, promote social competence, and ensure parental involvement in all aspects of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Behavior Standard – 50% of Position

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that facilitates good relationships with customers, clients, co‑workers, and management.

Attendance Standard

Maintain excellent punctuality and attendance.

Fundamental: Day to Day

Plan and implement developmentally and linguistically appropriate activities that recognize and support each child’s rate of development.

Assess the safety of classrooms and outdoor play areas before engaging children in activities.

Organize the classroom environment into areas for learning, eating, resting, and playing in accordance with the Creative Curriculum, licensing regulations, and NAEYC accreditation standards.

Provide a daily schedule of individualized child- and teacher-initiated activities that is well defined to help children understand the order of events each day.

Accompany children to and from the bus, playground, and out-of-center activities, maintaining an attendance check and head count.

Maintain staff and classroom ratios at all times.

Address toileting and diapering based on each child’s individual needs.

Feed infants and toddlers “on demand” at appropriate intervals.

Ensure the safety of sleeping infants by adhering to current guidelines on reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Communications/Public Relations

Maintain a communication system plan that ensures appropriate communication among children, families, teaching staff, the Center Manager, and community organizations.

Support and participate in the values and missions of ESNG.

Monitoring

Complete the Health and Safety Checklist for classrooms weekly.

Monitor and report accurate numbers for the program weekly report.

Record Keeping

Maintain updated and accurate records for children (educational and nutritional).

Maintain confidentiality.

Compliance

Adhere to policies, procedures, and practices that ensure the achievement and maintenance of GA licensure, NAEYC accreditation, and Head Start Performance Standards.

Assist with the Child Transition Plan to help parents advocate for their children, provide cross-training and share transition needs, assist with field trips for children and parents to feeder schools, and help parents become familiar with community resources.

Learning and Growth

Participate in all mandatory Easter Seals trainings, including pre‑service, in‑service, and other educational programs and trainings.

Complete the minimum number of training hours required by Bright from the Start, OSR, Georgia Pre‑K, and Head Start.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Lead Infant Toddler Teacher

Must possess a minimum of a Childhood Development Associate (CDA) Credential with an Infant/Toddler endorsement, TCC, TCD, or equivalent. If an employee is hired without this minimum credential, the employee must pursue and complete the credential within the timeframe prescribed by the agency.
