Shift : 6 am - 2 pm Mo - Fri
We are currently seeking a full-time, Pre-Press Specialist to join our Flexographic Pre-Press Department in St. Louis, MO. This position will report directly to the Pre-Press Manager.
The Pre-Press Specialist will be responsible for pre-flighting customer-supplied artwork, preparing and proofing 1-up artwork for flexographic printing, troubleshooting common file and color relating issues, and ensuring color matches customer standards,
A solid understanding of color theory and experience with flexo plate-making software is essential. The ideal candidate will work closely with designers, clients, and the production team to ensure high-quality output under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills, technical expertise, and a passion for print production are key for success in this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform preflight checks to ensure files meet print specifications
Review and prepare files for flexographic printing in line with department procedures and expectations including (but not limited to) proofing, trapping, text editing, and color corrections
Optimize designs for color separations and plate-making
Create and approve print-ready proofs
Troubleshoot prepress issues to ensure smooth production
Collaborate with designers, customer service and production teams
Adhere to production schedules to meet tight deadlines
Ensure final files meet quality standards and production / customer specifications
Self-educating and driven about new software / technology
Skills & Competencies
Working knowledge of the flexographic printing process and its related specifications and limitations; specifically, ink lay down order, trapping and stepping layouts
Familiarity 4 / c process, spot colors, varnish, foil, die cuts, etc.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Effective communication, diplomacy and problem-solving skills are required
Strong organization skills and documentation for projects or procedures (examples in interview process are encouraged)
Ability to meet deadlines
Familiarity with ArtPro and Esko software is an advantage
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in file preparation of flexographic printing is necessary to be considered for the position.
Demonstrating an ability to trap, apply overprints and adapt for ink rotation will likely be requested during interview process.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
High school diploma or GED required
Work Environment This job operates in an open office environment shared by employees in other departments. Must be able to maintain focus and stay productive with background noise.
