COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Communications Specialist to support the creation and delivery of clear, accurate, and engaging communications. This role produces written, digital, and visual content across a variety of platforms and ensures alignment with institutional brand standards. The position requires strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
With supervision, creates engaging content for various digital media outlets as well as quality designs for print and e‑publications, from concept to layout to final production, with the goal of increasing enrollment and raising awareness of faculty research, school initiatives and student stories. Manages the proofing, review, billing and printing process for print publications. Produces accurate and high‑quality design work.
Plans, captures and edits photography, video and audio content. Manages the archival of content.
Creates social media calendar to implement content strategy across all channels. Uploads digital content with scripts, descriptions and captions to a variety of video platforms and social media sites. Manages all social media profiles for CSOB.
Makes the best use of available technologies and stays abreast of best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $47,665 - $62,000)
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
Proficient knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
